Overview
As of SEP sesam v. 5.0.0 Jaglion, it is possible to restore a single Exchange mailbox database with SEP sesam Exchange Recovery Pro via the web interface Restore Assistant if you have been granted the appropriate permissions. For details on its requirements, see Restore Assistant.
Note that Exchange Recovery Pro is only supported on Windows systems and must be installed on the system that serves as the SEP sesam Server or SEP sesam RDS.
Before attempting to restore Exchange mailbox databases, the prerequisites must be met and all preparation steps have to be performed properly, including configuration and backup. For details, see Exchange Documentation.
Accessing the restore assistant
You can access the Restore Assistant from the SEP sesam GUI by clicking the Restore Assistant icon in the toolbar, from Activities -> Restore Assistant, or by typing the following information in the browser address bar:

Restoring single Exchange mailbox database
In the web Restore assistant, you can currently restore only a single Exchange mailbox database with SEP sesam Exchange Recovery Pro. If you want to restore individual emails, calendars, journals, etc., you have to follow the Exchange restore procedure in the SEP sesam GUI. For details, see Exchange Restore.

Switching from basic to advanced restore mode allows you to fine-tune your restore by using additional options. The basic restore mode is enabled by default. For more details, see Setting UI mode. |
- Open the Restore Assistant in the browser.
- In the Start window, select Microsoft Exchange Mail. Click Next.
- In the Client window, select your MS Exchange client.
- In the Task window, under the Task selection select your backup task. A backup task defines the source data which was backed up from the client.
- Then under the Backup selection select the exact backup version you want to restore. You can use the calendar function found in the upper right corner to filter a date range for the displayed backups. Click Next.
- In the Exchange DB window, select a single mailbox database and click Next.
- In the Exchange Recovery Pro window, ...
- In the last step, review your restore task and click Start restore.

You can search for a file or a directory by entering your search term in the Search for files or directories in all backups. |
You can view the status of your restore jobs by using SEP sesam Web UI (Monitoring -> Restores) or SEP sesam GUI (Main Selection -> Job State -> Restores). For details, see Monitoring and Reporting.
