Icons and symbols used in the SEP sesam GUI

As of v. 4.4.3 Beefalo, SEP sesam GUI is redesigned to be more user-friendly. To improve usability, also the GUI icons have been redesigned and additional icons and symbols have been added. The following tables show new GUI icons and symbols with their description.

Menu bar and toolbar icons

Icon Description
Dashboard.png Clicking SEP sesam Dashboard allows you to check SEP sesam operations and their status online.
Immediate start backup.png Clicking Immediate Start: Backup enables you to select an already configured task and start the backup immediately.
Web restore assistant.png Clicking Restore Assistant opens the online restore assistant in the external web browser.
Restore wizard.png Clicking Restore Wizard opens the wizard that enables you to start the restore immediately.
Backups.png Clicking Backups shows a list of all performed backups and their status.
Calendar sheet icon.png Clicking Calendar Sheet provides an overview of all scheduled, completed and expired events with their current status.
About SEP sesam icon.png Clicking About SEP sesam shows a SEP sesam version information.
System recovery.png Clicking Start Disaster Recovery allows you to start SEP sesam Server disaster recovery immediately. Only available if the backup task SESAM_BACKUP is configured and the sm_disaster interface is activated. See SEP sesam Server Disaster Recovery.
Notification.png Notification Center white flag is displayed when there are currently no open notifications. Clicking the flag displays the list of all resolved messages.
Notification with new messages.png Notification Center orange flag is displayed when there are new notifications issued by the SEP sesam Server that need to be checked.

Main selection icons

Icon Description
Topology icon.png Clicking Topology shows all SEP sesam locations and their components.
Clients.png Clicking Clients provides a list of all interconnected, in SEP sesam configured computers – SEP sesam Clients and their properties.
Data store.png Clicking Data Stores shows all configured data stores and their properties, such as type, utilization, capacity.
Loader icon.png Clicking Loaders shows all configured loaders.
Drives icon.png Clicking Drives shows all configured drive groups and their drives.
Mediapool.png Clicking Media Pools shows all configured media pools and their media.
List of media.png Clicking Media shows a list of media, containing all media prepared for use with SEP sesam.
Tasks by clients icon.png Clicking Tasks by Clients shows a list of configured locations with their clients and configured tasks.
Task group icon.png Clicking Tasks by Groups shows a list of configured task groups and related tasks.
File:Backup plans.png Clicking Backup Plans provides an overview of all migration and replication tasks, as well as task groups and backup tasks.
Migration.png Clicking Migration Tasks shows all configured migration tasks.

Calendar sheet icon.png Clicking Calendar Sheet provides an overview of all scheduled, completed and expired events with their current status according to their start time.
Results.png Clicking All results provides a list of all jobs (backups, restores, migrations, etc.) and their details, such as event type, state, saveset, task, backup EOL, etc.
Backups.png Clicking Backups provides a list of all performed backups and their details, such as status, backup EOL, data size, throughput, etc.
Restores.png Clicking Restores provides a list of all performed restores and their details, such as status, data size, media pool, start/stop time, etc.

Last backup state icon.png Clicking Last Backup State shows previously executed jobs with their last backup status and the jobs which have never been backed up.
Processes.png Clicking Processes shows the status of SEP sesam processes on the SEP sesam Server.
Monitoring drives icon.png Clicking Monitoring: Drives shows a drive queue.
Notification.png Clicking Notification Center shows all notifications from the SEP sesam Server.
Protocol.png Clicking Logging shows different logs, e.g., state, day, error, or interface logs.

Status icons

The status-related icons show the job status, e.g., backup, restore, migration, etc.

Icon Description
State blocked.png The job has been blocked.
State cancelled.png The job has been cancelled.
State deleted.png The job has been deleted.
State deleted part.png The backup job is in the process of being deleted.
State error.png The job failed with an error.
State fatal.png The job failed with the fatal error.
State in queue.png The job is in queue.
State ok.png The job has been completed successfully.
State past due.png The job is past due.
State suppressed.png The event has been suppressed due to lower priority.
State timeout.png The job has not finished within the set time limit (exceeded its execution window).
State waiting.png The job waits for the execution.
State warning.png A warning occurs during the job execution.

Icon Description
State initialization.png The media initialization is in progress.
State purge.png The purge is in progress.
State unread.png The tape media has not been read during the readability check.

Context menu icons

The following general icons can be found in the context menus.

Icon Description
Auto refresh up.png Clicking Auto update will refresh (update) the displayed content automatically every 20 seconds.
Auto refresh down.png The the displayed content will be refreshed again within 20 seconds.
Auto refresh off.png The Auto update option is disabled, thus the content is not automatically refreshed.
Copy.png Clicking the Copy icon enables you to copy previously selected items.
Delete.png Clicking the Delete icon allows you to delete previously selected items
Download log.png Clicking the Download icon enables you to download the main log or trace log, respectively.
Export.png Clicking the Export icon enables you to export the status tables (e.g., backups) in the .xls or CSV format.
Help icon.png Clicking the Help icon opens the relevant wiki article with additional information.
Info icon.png Clicking the Information icon provides additional information about the selected option.
Location icon.png Represents the location; a group of clients.
Toolbar properties.png Clicking Properties opens the properties of the selected item, e.g., client, task, etc.
Refresh.png Clicking Refresh shows the updated view.
Send mail.png Clicking Send enables you to send the relevant log (e.g., main, day, error, etc.) by email.
Toolbar filter.png Represents a filter which enables you to easily find a specific content.
User.png Represents a user.
User group.png Represents a group of users.
Viewmode tablepanel.png If selected, the data is displayed in the table view mode.
Viewmode treepanel.png If selected, the data is displayed hierarchically in the tree view mode.

Client icon.png Represents a client, i.e., workstation, PC, virtual machine or file server.

Datastore savesets.png Under the Savesets tab, the savesets, stored on the respective data store, are shown.
Cloud.png In case of Si3 deduplication store, configured for backing up to S3 cloud storage, the S3 Credentials tab is shown.
Clean up.png Clicking Clean Up allows you to manually remove orphaned savesets from the data stores.
Purge.png Clicking Purge allows you to start purge manually.

Loader-related icons

Icon Description
Loader icon.png Clicking the Loader icon enables you to configure a new loader, see Configuring a Loader.
Loader content icon.png Clicking the Loader Content shows a symbolic representation of the loader. It is constantly updated and always shows the current status.
Archive adjustment icon.png Clicking the Archive Adjustment icon enables you to set up archive adjustment.
Loader action icon.png Clicking the Loader Action icon enables you to select a specific loader action, e.g., import, export, unload, etc.

Drive-related icons

Icon Description
Drive icon.png Represents a drive.
Disk drive.png Represents a disk drive.
Drives icon.png Represents a drive group.
Drive action icon.png Clicking the Drive Action icon allows you to manage the specific drive and media in the drive.

Media pool-related icons

Icon Description
Mediapool.png Represents a tape media pool.
Disk media pool.png Represents a disk media pool.

Locked on.png The media is locked until its retention time has expired, see Managing EOL.
Locked off.png The media is not locked and can be used for backups.
