Overview

Monitoring SEP sesam environment is important for ensuring the reliability and effectiveness of backup and restore processes. SEP sesam offers various features and capabilities, providing insights into job completion status, errors, storage usage, and more. The monitoring tools contribute to a robust and reliable data protection strategy, enabling users to manage, monitor and control SEP sesam jobs effectively, and to proactively manage and optimize their backup environment.

Key features

The monitoring functionality provides the following features:

  • SEP sesam dashboard provides a quick overview of your environment, and enables you to track the progress of jobs, view the completed jobs, the upcoming events, the statistical information, and more. For detailed information the dashboard directs you to the corresponding monitoring view.
  • Various monitoring views provide detailed insight into running and completed jobs with focus on specific job types or contexts, and enable tracking the status and details of backups, restores, migrations, and other actions.
  • Monitoring features offer real-time metrics for job completion status, errors, and storage usage.
  • In the monitoring views, a button for available actions (3 vertical dots icon) opens a context menu, offering actions that can be executed for the selected items, for example, you can start a backup, restart failed backups, lock a backup, or start a restore.
  • Integrated email notification system enables sending automated notifications about critical events, job statuses, and other relevant updates by email.

While monitoring functions are still available in the desktop GUI, their use is deprecated and not recommended for monitoring and reporting purposes. The Web UI provides enhanced functionality and is the recommended interface for monitoring tasks and real-time insights into your SEP sesam environment.
